We have a couple of servers using SMSQL for backups and everything works with no problems at all apart from "\SMSQL_SnapInfo\VDISK__MountPoint-001\FG__" never seems to clear down there are folders with dmp files going back to the first time the jobs were run in 2014. Going through the SM restore wizard these appear as Archived backups and if deleted there do disappear from disk. When SM jobs run there is an entry in the log that the directories are qurried but then all of the folders are listed in not being deleted. What controls the retention of the directories here as I would of expected them to be cleared down ?

after snap creator upgrade from 4.1P2 to 4.3.0, unable to start backup
Hi,
I upgraded from Snap creator 4.1P2 to 4.3.0. After upgrade When I run a backup of a test configuration, I get below error:

From the SC GUI, schedules tab, when I edit any of existing schedules, I see that "action" dropdown is empty, I am not able to choose "backup" from dropdown. What I am missing?

Troubles installing SnapDrive for Linux
Hi all!
I'm experiencing some troubles installing snapdrive for linux. Cannot start daemon, log files are attached. I already installed and configured multipath and host utilities. I can run sanlun lun show or sanlun fcp show adapter normally. It's hardvare server HP BL460c gen8 with QLogic QMH2572 8Gb FC HBA. OS is RHEL 6.7.
Could anyone help me with this trouble?

SnapCreator MySQL plug-in does not support backup and restore operations for multiple databases?
Questions about the statement in "Snap Creator Framework 4.3 Administration Guide" page 77, as the subject.

1. Does this mean that it can only backup and restore MySQL server with a single database?
2. Why can we input "A list of MySQL database(s) and the username/password" for parameter "MYSQL_DATABASES" then?
3. What are the requirements of privileges or user rights for the database user?
4. There is an SnapCreator implementation that the customer wish to backup MySQL enterprise server 5.6.3 on Linux Centos 6.5, with multiple databases reside on a single NetApp data and log iSCSI LUNs. Is this possible?
- MySQL enterprise server 5.6.3 on Linux Centos 6.5 (slave)
- Data ONTAP 8.3.1 Clustered-mode
- one iSCSI LUN for Data (2.3TB)
- one iSCSI LUN for Log (1.1TB)

Does SnapCreator support Oracle RAC with ASM on Windows?
As SMO does not support either Oracle RAC or Oracle ASM on Windows. Does Snapcreator support them?

Edit a schedule in v4.3 does not work.
When i click edit on a schedule the "Action" field is empty and the "Save" button is dimmed.
If i click on the "Action" field nothing happens.
So basically I cannnot edit schedules. i have to delete and create new which is annoying.

SnapDrive for Windows - Drive Letter to LUN Mapping Config File?
Is there a txt file or something that can be backed up that contains the LUN mapping info in SnapDrive for Windows, i.e., Drive letter to LUN path on filer etc? Like what is shown in the lower SnapDrive details panel in the GUI? I'd like to kep this backed up without having to copy it from the GUI.

NDMP Solution
NDMP Copy Command is run via root user only or else we have to create the new ndmmp user and generate the password for the same.

Connecting new Windows Cluster nodes to existing Cluster Shared Volume
Hi
We built a Windows Failover Cluster to host a couple of virtual machines. The VM's hard drives (VHDX's) is presented to the host through a FCP connected LUN. The LUN was created when there were 3 nodes in the cluster, using SnapDrive.
We've now added more nodes to the cluster... How do I (using SnapDrive) mount the same LUN (the CSV) on the new nodes? Do I just use the "Connect Disk" function in SnapDrive?

I've tried each of the 4 roles for this user in operations manager and even tried the administrator account. Same result. I know the PW is correct because putting in incorrect PW results in authorization error and using HTTP results in HTTP protocol error.

SnapDrive Configuration
The question is given the following configuration and information do I need to install Windows Host Utilities. Here is the configuration: 2\ea - Virutual Exchange Server 2010 sitting on top of Server 2008 R2. Members of a 2 member DAG - 1/production and 1/DR Site. All the disks containg the databases and logs are all ISCSI connected. Each server has 8 LUNs, 4 for databases and 4 for log files. Each LUN Is connected via ISCSI. We are using Microsoft's ISCSI initiator. The virtual servers are hosted on a NetApp FAS3250 in 7-mode HA and the LUNs are on the same HA group of filers. Both servers are configered the same except for the Window host utilites.
The Host Utilities were installed on the production server which was built about 9 month prior to the DAG installation. The install of the utilities on the production box does not even appear to be a complete install. None of the commands to give you any ISCSI information does not work, there are just a bunch of old DOS command when you type HELP. The DR side of the DAG does not have the host utilities installed at all. Both have been working fine.
I am getting ready to upgrade Snapdrive and Snapmanager for Exchange and Window Host Utilites is listed as a prerequisit.
Do I really require the host utilites and am I losing anything by not having them installed.

110K Users Exchange Environment and SME
Hi all.
I'm currently planning for 110K users Exchnage 2K13 enviorment that will use NetApp cDOT systems as the storage infra + SME and snapvault for backup and recovery.
The environemt consists from multiple DAGs with 3 DB copies. Each server in each DAG will be configured with 12 active and 12 passive DBs.
The customer want to create snaps only on the Local Passive and Remote passive copies of the each DAG.
As part of the planning we need to provide an automated solutoin that create the SME backup parameters in a way that:
- no more than 3 DBs on each servers will be backed up simultanusly (following successful backup of the 1st 3 the next 3 will start)
- in case of DAG failure on the AP2/AP3 copies the backup should be done on the Active DB (AP1)
Did any of you created or aware of such automation already created ? can you share other approches to use SME is such big implementations ?

SnapCenter - VSC 6.2 Problem
hello together,
we installed SnapCenter on an 2012 R2 Server and created in our VSC 6.2 Backupjobs.
The Backupjob is running, but failed at 80 %.
The Connection to the storage system is the cluster IP ( Ontap 8.3.1)
i added then the single nodes from the cluster - but it doent help.
We deinstalled the SnapCenter.
I got the error in our VSphere Console:

Snapdrive snap restore fails to mount NFS volume
Hi
we have been testing SnapDrive 5.3 for Linux and CDOT 8.3.1P1.
The server OS is RHEL 6.4.
We have discovered that snapdrive snap restore fails when using NFS mounted volumes.
It looks like snapdrive initially unmounts the filesystem and then tries to mount it on a mountpoint created in the /tmp directory.
The command that is invoked looks like
mount -t <filer:/volume> /tmp/SDU_<datetimestamp>_<pid>
This fails because the fs type is not specified.
I ran the command using strace and I cannot see any attempt to determine the fstype.
Is this a bug or a configuration issue?

Snap manager for sql question
I was wondering if someone could answer a question for me. I'm snapvaulting some sql databases using snapmanager to a repository on a fas2000. I'm using iscsi as the protocol. The destination svm has no igroup defined for the source sql server. When I restore from archive using snapmanager the restore works but at no point on the CLI do I see a snapshot being taken or Lun mapping occurring. How does the process work in the backend? I'm running ontap 8.3 with the latest snapdrive and snapmanager

Snap Creator 4.3.0 unable to backup domino
Hi, I need some help with a snap creator backup problem on one of our domino servers please.
I've updated to latest snap creator version 4.3.0 with the hope this would resolve this long standing issue, but no joy.
Have updated to latest java version.

VSC plugin
Hi all,
I've recently acquired a new position within my school district and have inherited a FAS2240, DS2246, and a FAS2220 as a DR. I'm very new to NetApp so please excuse my ignorance in some areas.
With that being said, I'm curious about the VSC plugin. Each of our two controllers contain 4-5 NFS volumes. Snapshots are currently configured for each volume within OnCommand. With this setup as I understand it, I cannot backup and restore individual VMs or individual files from .vmdk's. However, with VSC this is possible. My question is, does it sound okay to remove the current snapshot configurations and just rely on VSC? It sounds like VSC takes a snapshot at the volume level anyways, so it seems that it would essentially be the same setup as I have now, except for the backup/restore of individual VMs ability. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
