When using NetAPP/SnapMirror, can the primary side use Oracle 12c1 and the backup side use 12c2?

graphite site returns Internal server error (500)
i have windows server 2012r2 firewall disabled, antivirus is disabled. windows updates where installed on 10.10.2018
When i try to login to snapcenter , first site is open i can write in my credentials but when i hit enter i get this error.
the website cannot be display http 500.
IIS servis i can restart whithout problems.
Server also was restarted.
I seee that backup are taken on netapp are snapshoots also when i check the sql databatse alst backup on sql studio.
I only cannot use portal. Portal also check if im writing wrong password. So everyring seems to work but i cannot see the dasboard. thanks for helping me

how remove snapshoots from vault and then policy
Snapcenter 4.1 , im new in snapcenter, we create at the begining a few policy after 5 days we change our backup strategy and create a new policies. Now we cannot delete the policies because there should be a backup attached. But i know that that retention should be over .
i check the databases where this poliy was attached . I remove manually the snapshoot which was attached to local copies and allso make check thaz al backups should be deleted.
but when i check the database.
i get this. under mirror the snapshoots are deleted. you see mirror there should be 32 copies but graphich shows 36 date is 25.9.2018
under vault i see that there are 36 copies snapshoots
so how can i delete this snapshoots that mirror and vault be the same? I dont remember that i should make a seperate retention policy of vault. So how to delete it or synchronize it.
Should i do it direct on netapp? Or how can i resolve this?

Snapcenter same installation different Installation paths
Hi All
Can someone explain to me following behaviour:
Snapcenter test-environment:
Version: 4.1.0.1738
Installation path Web_App: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SnapCenter
Repository path: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SnapCenter\Repository
Snapcenter production-environment:
Version: 4.1.0.1738
Installation path Web_App: C:\Program Files\NetApp\SnapCenter WebApp
Repository path: C:\ProgramData\NetApp\SnapCenter\Package Repository
The Problem is that prod snapcenter search for new plug-ins in path "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SnapCenter\Repository" and finds nothing, because the repository is in an other path (see above):
"Could not find a part of the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SnapCenter\Repository\cf.xml'" in logfile "C:\Program Files\NetApp\SnapCenter WebApp\App_Data\log\SnapManagerWeb.log"
The effect of this is: the current plugin shows as unsupported plugin and a new one after a software update isn't recognized.
When I copy the entire contents from "C:\ProgramData\NetApp\SnapCenter\Package Repository" to "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SnapCenter\Repository\" then all things works as expected.

SnapCenter and Swagger
I used swagger to request "raw" report date out of SnapCenter. I noticed that the coresponding domain account needs to have SnapCenter admin priv's to do read data jobs. Verified by NetApp Support this works as desined: user with limedted privs are not allowed to request Data, generated by jobs, scheduled by users with higher privs.
So far, so good, NetApp agreed to open a request for enhancement for this.
Now, see what happends:
As soon as I logged in at Snapcenter, using my admin-account via swagger, i received a token.
As soon as I received the token, my parallel existing web-gui SnapCenter Session was broken and I was not able to log into the SnapCenter GUI again.
ok, I continued doing som swagger report request, all went fine. I disconnected by swagger, logged into SnaCenter GUI again, all fine.
Now see this:
again, I logged in to snapcenter by swagger, gor the token, did further report testing and remain connected by swagger.
all further snapshot jobs, created and scheduled by my account, weeks'n months ago did not start.
All jobs got skipped from friday to monday.
My swagger window closed in the meantime, so I logged into SnapCenter WEB GUI, edited each Ressource-protection setting, owned by me and from that time on, all scheduled snapshots got executed fine again.
this is strange.
Does someone else have any experiances with swagger and snapceter?

SMO 3.4.1 on AIX + postscript - Snapvault not working.

I need to use SMO on AIX Server because SnapCenter for Oracle don't use on AIX Server when the Netapp cluster are on Ontap 9.
I'm actually on AFF MetroCluster (Ontap 9.4) and I need to create a backup of Oracle with SMO.
I don't have a problem to backup my Oracle base with SMO.
But I don't find how to set SMO to create a snapshot with snapmirror_label and after, make a snapvault with SMO.
When I see the documentation, in Ontap 9.x, a script is possible.
Netap specify that I must create a postscript XML file like that :

I don't know if I must write this second information in the same script.
In the second problem, I see that the script use the "snapdrive snap setlabel -snaplabel $SNAPSHOT_LABEL -snapname $SM_PRIMARY_FULL_SNAPSHOT_NAME_FOR_TAG" command.
When I use this command on SnapDrive for AIX, when I create a snapshot, I don't see the Snapmirror_label on the snapshot .

SNAPMIRROR , replication is not happening on 2 volumes from production environment to qa environmen
Prod environment had 2 volumes which was maxed out and even after freeing the space the data was claimed of 0.8tb and 3.5tb from 2 different pools and we had to delete the QA environment and stop the replication procedures.
Resolution taken,
We did break the snapmirror and we tried deleting the volumes but after that the resync was not happening and replication was not happening with the help of "snapmirror resync "
Please let me know how we can go ahead with replicating these volumes.

snapcenter dont remove snapshoot from repository
snapcenter4.1
i have a sql server with 3 instances, for each instance i have a seperatly resource group.
and my problem is that only by one resource group (sql instance) by sql default db, master,msdb, in snapcenter under snapmirror, and vault are showing more snapshoots that in retention is define.
so it should be 31 but i have more as 31 , but when i check the snapshoots on netapp the number is ok.at the end i have to remove id in metadata from db repository.
the command cleanupsecondary dont do nothing.
have someone a ideea what should i do?

SnapManager Oracle SMO (Windows) Profile Update Error
We would like to change the snapshot count within SMO profiles, but we get an error when we try to save the changes.
There is no operation runnung, but SMO think there is still an operation running...

Using XDP snapmirror replace tape solution backup in HFC environment
Current Environment : HFC (High File Count NAS Environment ) , 10 node Cluster Ontap9.1 , NDMP , dozens of LTO Tape Drives.
What can we do before :
1. Production Cluster hourly snapmirror update to DR Cluster ( DP snapmirror )
2. Monthly Full NDMP Backup for every Volume ; Daily NDMP Incremental backup every 3~5 days.
3. Source Volume take snapshot every 12hr and keep 4 copies.
What we can do now :
1. Keep 1hr RPO ( hourly XDP snapmirror update )
2. Keep 30 Daily snapshot at DR Cluster as Daily Backup
3. Source Volume take snapshot every 12hr and keep 4 copies.
4. Only Full NDMP backup using Tape Drive
My procedure as below :
1. create new snapmirror policy name "Vault_Daily" as tpye "mirror-vault"
2. add-rule to policy "Vault_Daily" for Destination Local take snapshot daily
snapmirror policy add-rule -vserver svm1 -policy Vault_Daily -schedule daily -snapmirror-label N_Daily -keep 30
PS : This rule is used to create Daily snapshot ONLY at destination cluster Local only ( not update and transfer from source )
Then we can see destination volume have daily snapshot named as N_Daily...

For new volume create XDP snapmirror relationship and using policy "Vault_Daily" then initialize.
For original DP relateionship volumes, you can take links below to convert DP to XDP snapmirror .
PS: make sure all destination volume is thin-provition and snapshot autodelete is disable.
4. Enable Volume Efficiency at destination volume for space saving to keep more snapshot copy
volume efficiency modify -compression true -inline-compression true -data-compaction true volumeXX
5. start volume efficiency scan
volume efficiency start -dedupe true -compression true -compaction true -scan-old-data true -b true volumeXX
note1 : -scan-old-data is needed for getting Full saving rate; -b true for compress snapshot data
note2 : (Limitation) the concurrent efficiency jobs is 8 per-node, so it took me several weeks for "-scan-old-data" efficiency jobs for all destination volumes.
PS : in my experience, it scans about 2TB~3TB data every 24hr when scan-old-data. That means if the volume size is 10TB, it may take about 5 days for volume efficiency start with scan-old-data.
note3 : For XDP destination volume that enable volume efficiency, efficiency job can not scheduled, efficiency job will auto start after every snapmirror update.
note4 : During efficiency start as scan-old-data job running, all snapshots created is huge and have no saving, please keep monitor the destination volume space used during scan-old-data. You need to wait for those "giant snapshot" being rorated for release the space used by "no saving giant snapshot".
Then a month after, I am really amazing.
The total volume size of source volumes is around 365388GB. But the total physical size used in Destination Cluster is 301660( include 1hr RPO copy and 30 daily snapshot copies).
I got greate saving rate and really amazing that destination volume with 30 daily snapshot take less space than source volume.
Using XDP snapmirror can meet DR/Backup requirement and working much better than "Synthetic Backup" with any backup software.

restoring a file from within a LUN
Hi
I have snapmirror implemeted between FAS and ontapselect. On ontap select I have DR volume with MIrror and Vault policy.
My snapshoted volumes are SAN (iSCIS - LUNs) and the question is how to recover single file from snapshot for LUN volumes.
One of the aproach which I found is by :
file clone create -vserver vserver_name -volume volume_name -source-path source_path -snapshot-name snapshot_name -destination-path destination_path
But I realy have no Idea what I should put in source_path and destination path ? New name o volumes ?
Long long ago I can clone luns in simple way from snapshots but in netapp 9 ?
Is there any other method to recover files from snapshot ?

Comparing what has changed since VSC SMVI 6.2.2
Noticed that the very convenient VM menu option "Backup Now" is gone in SnapCenter plugin
please bring this menu option back - we use it regularly

How to mount a snapshot lun in another host
hi, all
I am currently using SC4.1 , in this environment there is a windows sql cluster with two windows host members upon where there are snapcenter windows plugin and sql plugin installed. Another host added in snapcenter 'Managed Hosts' tab is snapcenter itself with windows plugin installed. Altogether there are three hosts registered in the snapcenter.
In snapcenter Resources->File systems->View Path , I created a 'on demand' snapshot of a disk name 'X:\' where 'X:\' is a cluster shared disk. Later on , I can clone and mount the backup lun to either host in that windows cluster, that is , I can see the cloned disk in the c:\scmnpt\mpdisk0000 from two windows cluster member host.
Thing go wrong when I clone the same backup lun Clone setting> clone server as snapcenter, clone job failed in the stage 'Query Host Information' with 'System.Exception' .
I check the 'SnapCenter Software 4.0 Data Protection Guide For Microsoft Windows File Systems' section 'Cloning from a Windows file system backup' and did not find restriction that lun can not mount on different host.
I also ever try powerschell , but no luck, can not figure out which parameter would be proper -ResourceType ???
