I've upgraded a customer to SnapCenter 4.4 and now when a VM in a backup job wont quiesce it doesn't initiate a snapmirror update and the job summary doesn't show snapmirror update. If I turn off VM snapshot in the policy, the snapmirror update is initiated and snapmirror update is shown in the job summary. A bug?

Snapcenter vsphere plugin 4.4 won't start because of LUN discovery based on serial number
Hi guys,
I'm getting the following error message while running my first backup job with the vSphere plugin :
Unable to discover resources on SCV: Failed to determine LUN based on Serial Number
I already made a google research and found that I need to extend the storage time to 180s for a large env (instead of 60s) as described in this kb https://kb.netapp.com/Advice_and_Troubleshooting/Data_Protection_and_Security/SnapCenter/Unable_to_discover_resources_on_SCV%3A_Failed_to_determine_LUN_based_on_Serial_Number
Unfortunately, it still fails after 60s.
The backup job succeeds if I remove half of the datastores but we want to protect them all right ?😉
Any idea ?

Slow cloning in Snapcenter due to disk scanning
Using Snapcenter with the Oracle plugin and 19c databases. We find the cloning process very slow. On average the disk scanning phase takes 3 mins! On SMO this took less than 1 min. We are using Oracle ASM. Where might i look to see why this scanning is so slow?

using Snapcenter in a segregated network
Hi there
For security reasons we have a segregated network, with Snapcenter and the storage controllers in Zone A and the host servers in zones B C and D.
Each Zone has its own SVM to support the hosts and is providing storage over iscsi to the hosts. To allow snapcenter to manage the SVMs the SVMs for Zones B C and D have 2 management IPs on separate lifs and Vlans. e.g IP 1 192.x.x. and IP2 10.x.x.x
issue arises when trying to implement snapcenter and adding SVMS to Snapcenter that it can resolve and that the hosts can access.
So far using Snapcenter 4.4 i have tried
1: Adding the SVM with the local IP and the Host zone IP as preferred. Error Snapcenter cannot access preferred IP so will not add host
2: Adding the SVM with the Host Zone IP, Error snapcenter cannot access the preferred IP
3: Adding the SVM via a DNS name locally resolvable to Snapcentre local management IP - error when host enumerates storage as gets storage controller SVM details from Snapcenter and selects incorrect IP for management
4: Adding the SVM via a full FQDN, resolvable locally and in the host zone to the relevant IPs - error as 3 host plugin does not appear to do a local dns lookup and gets the storage controller details from snapcenter and selects the incorrect IP for management
when enumerating the storage on the host the logs show the correct IP for the host zone is listed second but as no preference IP is set it chooses the first, and fails to connect.
It seems the preferred IP option was created to overcome the problems above, but assumes that the Snapcenter server can access all areas! not ideal in a secure segregated environment.
Can anyone advise how I can may be able to workaround or solve this e.g. reorder the management IPs on the SVM so that the host selects the correct IP, or how I can set the preferred Ip without the snapcenter server then trying to connect to that IP and the throwing an error.
if any one from netapp is looking can we please consider a change so that the SVM IP for each host is defined when adding the host rather then letting it discover this for itself - as this would solve the problem also and allow for segregated networks where Snapcenter does not require god like access.
any other suggestion or approach welcome as running out of road

backup SQL database from NetApp snapshot or from Veritas SQL agent
We are currently backing up Microsoft SQL databases with Veritas enterprise NetBackup with SQL agent from production server. Since it is big (2~10TB), we are considering to back it up from NetApp snapshot, we will use SnapCenter to take a snapshot and mount it on a separated host, then back it up with Veritas. WFA will need to be involved in this case.
If you are doing the same, please share your experience with any advantage and disadvantage. thanks

How to Restore VM removed from Vcenter
I use Snapcenter 4.4 and VMware vcenter6.7 I have make a backup, then i remove vm from disk in vCenter.
How can i restore this vm back to datastore and then publish in VCenter again?
is the only solution vCenter datastore view and Right click on datastore and mount backup?
and then move data from mount datastore to production datastore, publisch and this is?
So i can also make clones of vm?

Snapcenter 4.4 and Windows 10
Using SnapCentre 4.4. Can we use the powershell CMDLETS on our windows 10 machines? We'd like our sysadmins to be able to use the powershell cli to start backups/clones etc. without logging into the UI or the Snapcenter server.

We have three questions that need to be answered regarding the customer's current environment.
Customer have 3 SQL Availability group Instances and 1 standalone FCI SQL Instance simultaneously running on two Node Windows Cluster (clustername COREPRDSQL16 ) .teh above config is supported by Microsoft .
we have successfully configured the 3 SQL Availability group Instances in snapcenter and backups are running fine. However we run into issues with discovering databases for the 1 standalone FCI SQL Instance ( COREPRDFCI)

Question#1 The account used is the same account as other AG instances with sysadmin rights in corresponding SQL instance DBS. SVM is the same . So no storage connection issues . Why the SQL DB discovery fails. Any things to do with static port being used for this SQL instance?

can we run SQL AG and SQL FCI in the same Windows cluster for snapcenter ? Is this a supported configuration for SnapCenter?
Question #3 The two nodes of the windows clusters are in 2 different datacenter locations and each windows nodes has two different IPs in two different subnets . When we fail over teh SQL resources to the second node, we are unable to enumerate the databases on the second node. Do we support this configuration?

number of backup is wrong presented
i have snapcenter 4.3 and vcenter 6.7. 2 netapps. my retention is 31 days. when i try to restore vm primary snapshots are showing correct 14 day. when i choice option that imwant to see primary and secondary, i get list of backups for 3 months, retention is 31 days. something is not refresch correct between vcenter and snapcenter. on netapp on volume there is the right retention.
also datastore more actions backup also number is wrong. is more that 31 copies.

Snapcenter job details timings incorrect?
Hi there
when viewing job details in snapcenter the start and end times are often (but not always) reversed.
see snip example below. it starts at 4:17 and finished at 4:15?
Could this be a time issues between the SC servers and target hosts?
Also is there anyway to get snapcenter to alter its date format to UK rather than US?

Cannot restore any VM using the snapcenter vSphere plugin 4.4.0
Hi,
I'm getting the following error message while trying to restore a VM :
"Error: Exception while calling pre-restore on SCV: Unable to mount datastores: Datastore1 in Backup: 113&1.Failed to create LUN clone null on volume null null."
I fount a kb about this but for snapcenter plug-in version 4.3.
Is it relevant for version 4.4 too ?
If it is, where should I enter these commands ?

SnapCenter Plugin for Windows and Vcenter Credentials
Hi another question
I have a venter which is not part of the domain. Snapdrive is currently using a credential that i created on vcenter.
If i'm reading this documentation correct (https://docs.netapp.com/ocsc-44/topic/com.netapp.doc.ocsc-ag/GUID-51A662FF-9291-48DA-A3F1-84CDBB51AAEB.html?cp=2_1_13_0_0) SnapCenter only supports Windows credentials and i will need to add vcenter to my domain and then assign the windows credentials the necessary permissions?

MS SQL AOAG Snaps - why is the MasterDB included automatically?

Testing the use of Snapcenter to snap a Microsoft AOAG Database and mirror to a second site. I noticed when setting this up that SnapCenter always includes the MasterDB volume in the mirror'ed volumes on verification page when a secondary site server is used for verification even though the MasterDB was not selected for backup on the Resources page.
can anyone shed light on why it does this?

SnapDrive Transport Protocol Password Change
I am resetting all local NetApp cluster passwords to upgrade the hash from MD5 to SHA512 and I am down to my last one - the local service account used by SnapDrive for the Transport Protocol Settings. We only have SnapDrive running on Windows Failover Clusters, and only for LUN management (due to a SnapCenter bug I'm awaiting a fix on). We use SnapCenter on all systems, including the ones with SnapDrive, for backups.
Within this context, is there any risk to changing the password for the service account used in the Transport Protocol Settings dialog box, and then going one system at a time to update the new password in the dialog box? I don't want to get in a situation where (a) SnapDrive tries to connect and it affects LUN functionality, and/or (b) SnapDrive tries to connect from systems I haven't updated the password for yet, and it locks out the service account.
Any recommendations?

To my opinion, it's stupid that these originally "hidden" settings need to be added in some JSON-file...
But why does netapp not explain what these settings mean?... who can explain these settings?
We use snapvault for updating the secondary... This should mean we only have to add the first variables? althought NetApp used snapmirror/snapvault mixed together...

data broker cannot add storage
Hi,
Data Broker 1.0.1 connect to vCenter 6.0U3 successful, but failed when add Storage in vSphere web client and display "Received fatal alert handshake_failure". I try search google and NetApp KB but cannot found solution, any idea?
We try use HTTP or HTTPS add Storage, it was same problem.

SnapCenter plugin for DB2 questions
I would like to get an explanation on the work of the plugin for backup DB / 2.
1. If the write_suspend command fails when executing the script, the snapshot is not created, and there is no setting to repeat the task for a certain time. In the event of such a situation, we are left without an actual backup. How to solve this problem? When will the replay functionality of a failed task appear?
2. To complete the task, you must specify the username and password of the user who is the owner of the instance. There is no possibility to run through SUDO as another user. Our owners of logins and passwords are administrators of information systems, they can change the password at any time without our notification and the tasks will stop going through. There is a need to run tasks on behalf of a user dedicated to the RK, who will not be the owner of the instance, but will have the necessary rights. When is this functionality implemented?
3. Regularly emerging need - to restore a database from a backup to another server, for example, from a production segment to a development segment. In the current version of the plug-in, there is no functionality for restoring a DB2 database to another server. Are there any plans to improve the functionality?
